The United States has struck Iran for the first time since the ceasefire was reached. According to U.S. Central Command, on the night of June 26 American aircraft attacked Iranian missile and drone depots, as well as coastal radar stations.
Washington said the strike was a response to an Iranian drone attack on the Singapore-flagged cargo vessel M/V Ever Lovely in the Strait of Hormuz. The attack on the vessel was carried out on June 25 using a drone.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance commented on the terms of the ceasefire. “Iran signed a ceasefire agreement. We are observing it. If they have disagreements about how this memorandum of understanding is being applied, they can pick up the phone. But violence will be met with violence,” he wrote on X. According to him, it was Iran that violated the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
In response, Iran promised a “crushing response.” The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said U.S. forces attacked Iran’s Sirik Island, but that the assault was repelled. The IRGC warned that the attack “will not go unanswered.”
