The signing of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran will not take place “today,” despite yesterday’s statements by Donald Trump and Pakistan’s prime minister, Reuters reports.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei urged against tying a possible agreement to a specific date. According to him, an agreement could be reached “in the coming days,” but not on Sunday.
Baghaei also emphasized that unfreezing Iranian assets remains one of the key parts of the agreement. Tehran is also insisting on the removal of foreign military bases in the region.
