In Israel, officials sharply criticized the emerging agreement between the United States and Iran, Ynet writes. According to senior Israeli sources, the deal harms Israel’s interests and does not remove the main threats linked to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.
One of the outlet’s interlocutors said Israel’s position is effectively being ignored. “Our voice is not being heard. This is a bad agreement. No one is happy with it. Everyone understands that it is bad for us and harms Israeli interests,” he said.
Another source was even more blunt: “Trump set us up.”
Another Israeli official told Ynet that the agreement is seen in the region as the result of Iranian pressure and U.S. concessions. In his view, such a deal will be regarded as a failure in the short term.
Israeli sources also doubt that the agreement will prove durable. In their view, the main criterion for its success will be the actual removal and destruction of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles. If that does not happen, concerns around the deal will only grow.
