The United States told Iran that Israel had “agreed not to continue” strikes on Lebanon, CNN reports, citing sources.
According to the channel, Donald Trump’s administration is trying to return negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program to “a more stable track.”
Asked whether the United States was providing guarantees to Iran, one source said: “Hezbollah violated the ceasefire. Israel agreed not to continue; this was conveyed to the Iranian side, and now everything depends on whether Hezbollah stops.”
Today, Israel carried out a series of strikes on Lebanon in response to a Hezbollah attack that killed four Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon.
CNN notes that it is still unclear how the Trump administration conveyed this information to Iran and whether it will be enough to reschedule the planned technical talks.
