US intelligence is helping Ukraine plan drone routes for strikes on targets in Russia, the Financial Times writes, citing Ukrainian officials.
According to the newspaper’s sources, the US is helping Kyiv plot UAV flight paths so they can bypass Russian air-defense systems.
The article also cites assessments by analysts who note the growing effectiveness of Ukraine’s drone campaign. They link this to increased drone production, as well as improvements in control and coordination systems.
At the same time, Ukrainian officials involved in the negotiations say the Russian side is demanding that the US force Kyiv into sweeping concessions.
In their assessment, a resumption of peace talks mediated by Washington is unlikely before the end of the summer.
A Russian source involved in unofficial diplomatic contacts told the Financial Times that Moscow is unlikely to return to such talks before February next year.
“For now, the Russians’ preferred option is for the Americans to ‘hand over’ Ukraine to them. They are not hinting at any concessions,” the newspaper’s source said.
