President Donald Trump threatened to destroy one Iranian bridge or energy facility in retaliation for every attack on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the targets could include bridges and power plants in Tehran or near the Iranian capital.
“From this moment forward, every time the Islamic Republic of Iran fires on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz—whether with a missile, rocket, drone or any other device or weapon—the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT, including those located near or within the capital, Tehran,” the U.S. president wrote.
The statement came after an 11th consecutive night of American strikes on Iran. The exchange of attacks is bringing the two sides closer to a renewed full-scale conflict.
The escalation over the past month has driven oil prices higher. Brent crude, the international benchmark, rose 3.4% to $94.10 a barrel.
