In Penza region on the morning of July 1, air-defense forces shot down a Ukrainian drone, Governor Oleg Melnichenko said.
According to him, debris from the drone damaged power lines and fell onto an unfinished building. Melnichenko claims there were no casualties.
About an hour later, the governor said an air alert had been declared across the region. No consequences of this attack have yet been reported.
Ukrainian Telegram channels write that the Mayak plant in Penza was attacked. The Supernova+ channel claims it is a defense enterprise specializing in the production of radio-electronic equipment, control devices, communications systems and military products.
At the same time, the website of the Penza plant with that name says that Mayak is one of Russia’s oldest enterprises producing paper and cardboard.
Ukrainian Telegram channels also report smoke in the area of the Penza Scientific Research Institute of Electromechanical Devices. The enterprise develops and produces resistors and digital-to-analog converters.
