Russia has imposed a ban on diesel-fuel exports, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said. According to him, Russia will also begin importing petroleum products in July.
Novak said Russian refineries are being shifted to the maximum possible production volumes. To do so, some scheduled maintenance has been postponed, and additional capacity has been brought into operation.
At a meeting with Vladimir Putin, Zabaykalsky Krai governor Alexander Osipov proposed creating a network of small refineries amid Ukrainian attacks on major oil-processing plants.
Putin backed the idea, saying that “the wider the network, the harder it is to damage it.” He also ordered officials to “resolve the fuel issue in Crimea more quickly.”
