Russia’s largest oil refinery, the Omsk refinery, has suspended operations after a drone attack, Reuters reports, citing industry sources.
According to the agency’s sources, the strike caused a fire and damaged the CDU-10 primary oil-processing unit. It accounts for about 38% of the plant’s production capacity—24,580 tons a day.
According to exchange data, the Omsk refinery today stopped selling gasoline and diesel fuel on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange.
Reuters’ sources also reported the shutdown of another primary processing unit, CDU-11. It accounts for 37% of the facility’s capacity and can process 24,000 tons of crude a day.
The Omsk refinery has two mothballed primary processing units, PNP-7 and PNP-8. Each has a capacity of 10,000 tons a day.
In theory, the plant could restart them, Reuters notes.
