Vladimir Putin’s approval rating fell by five percentage points in a single week to 66%, according to a survey by the Public Opinion Foundation. It was the sharpest decline since Russia began its full-scale war against Ukraine.
The survey was conducted from July 10 to July 12. Over the same period, the share of Russians who said they trusted the president fell from 69% to 67%.
The Russian Public Opinion Research Center also recorded a decline. According to its data, Putin’s job-approval rating fell by 0.9 percentage points between July 6 and July 12—to 65.1%. His trust rating dropped by 1.3 points to 71%.
In early July, the center had already reported the largest weekly decline in trust in the president since the war began. The figure fell by 1.8 percentage points at the time.
Both polling organizations have recorded a deterioration in Putin’s ratings since the spring of 2026. The trend was initially attributed in part to restrictions on internet access and the blocking of Telegram. The decline subsequently continued amid Russia’s fuel crisis.
