Ukraine’s National Police detained a participant in the protest in Lviv and, together with the SBU, opened pretrial investigations after yesterday’s conflict with TCC employees.
The National Police said investigators are looking into an attack on a police officer who was maintaining public order during the incident. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 345 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code—threats against a law-enforcement officer. The attacker has been identified and detained.
The SBU, for its part, is conducting a pretrial investigation into “obstruction of the activities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.” All materials collected by police while documenting the incident have been handed over to the SBU to be added to the criminal case, the National Police said.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry commented on the mass conflict with TCC representatives in Lviv, saying that everyone is equal before the law and that violence must entail responsibility.
