ChatGPT’s share of the AI-assistant market has fallen below 50% for the first time, although the service remains the most popular in its category, TechCrunch reports, citing the State of AI Report.
Until January, ChatGPT’s share exceeded 50%, but by the end of May it had fallen to 46.4%. This came amid growth for Gemini, whose share reached 27.7%, and Claude, at 10.3%.
The share of other AI assistants, including Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek and Meta AI, remains below 5%.
At the same time, ChatGPT reached one billion monthly users faster than any other app in history.
