Volkswagen is considering closing several plants in Germany as part of a major restructuring that could affect about 40,000 jobs.
According to media reports, production at plants in Zwickau and Emden could be halted within five years. The Hanover plant could then face cuts in 2032, followed by Audi’s plant in Neckarsulm in 2034.
Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume is also reportedly planning to cut 50,000 jobs by 2030.
