The official death toll from the earthquakes in Venezuela has approached 3,000, Bloomberg reports.
According to the latest government report, 2,954 people were killed and another 16,592 were injured. A day earlier, authorities had reported 2,645 deaths. The number of injured rose by about 4,000.
Families of the missing continue to demand that authorities step up search-and-rescue operations.
The government has not yet published an official estimate of the number of missing people. According to data collected by opposition representatives, more than 32,000 people are considered missing or are listed as unaccounted for.
