Overnight on July 18, US forces attacked three bridges and a transportation tunnel near the port city of Bandar Abbas, close to the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian authorities say traffic through the tunnel has already resumed.
The islands of Qeshm, Kharg and Larak, as well as the port of Jask, were also struck. Electrical equipment and pumping stations were damaged. The disruptions left about 20 communities without water, according to Iranian media.
Following the US attacks, Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that Tehran would cease fulfilling its obligations under the memorandum with Washington on ending the conflict.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, meanwhile, reported carrying out a “coordinated and devastating attack” on the US military base at Al-Azraq in Jordan. The IRGC claims to have destroyed two fighter jets and three helicopters and damaged other equipment at the airfield.
Iranian forces also attacked Kuwait. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reported extensive damage at one of the country’s oil facilities.
“One of the oil sector’s most important facilities was repeatedly subjected to brutal Iranian attacks, leaving many people injured and causing extensive material damage,” the company said.
The IRGC also continues to attack vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Footage showing the aftermath of one such strike has been released.
