Donald Trump rejected allegations of corruption and said he does not take part in running his business. In an interview with CNBC, the US president commented on details from his financial disclosure, according to which his income for 2025 totaled about $2.2 billion.
Trump said his son Eric now handles business matters. According to the president, he does not discuss business with him because he considers such conversations undesirable given his position.
“I’m not involved in my business at all. My children run it. I put in a lot of money, I had a lot of money and have a lot of money now, and I have always made money—I’m a businessman. I’m a really good businessman. I’ve made an enormous amount of money—more than I ever thought I could make. And I let other people invest it. I don’t even know who those people are—but the money is handed over to large firms, the kind you have on your program all the time. My son Eric handles that. I don’t discuss these things with him. I think I would even be allowed to—I’m not sure about the status—but I don’t do it. And he puts the money into, let’s say, semi-blind or blind trusts, where people invest it,” Trump said.
Asked about income from cryptocurrency projects, which according to the disclosure brought him about $1.4 billion, Trump said he “doesn’t care.”
He also said he remains the only US president to have formally declined a salary.
“I have a much higher purpose. It’s the Oval Office. That is far more important than whether I am making money. For example, the president is the highest-paid person in government, and by some standards he is paid a lot. Not me. I’m the only president people say gave up his salary. I gave up my salary,” Trump said.
