Donald Trump said he is getting richer thanks to his presidency, along with all Americans.
A journalist asked him to comment on critics’ claims that he had become noticeably wealthier during his time in the White House. Trump did not deny it, but said his fortune was not growing on its own, but alongside Americans’ prosperity thanks to his administration’s economic policy.
“I’m getting richer because the stock market is going up. We’re all getting richer. How is your 401(k) doing? It’s up 85%!” Trump said.
He acknowledged that his income is growing faster than that of many Americans, but explained this by saying that he had more capital to begin with.
“I make more profit because I have a lot of money,” Trump said.
According to his 2025 financial disclosure, Trump’s fortune grew by $1.135 billion that year, mainly thanks to cryptocurrency transactions.
