Aleksandar Vučić said mandatory military service in Serbia will resume in March 2027.
Speaking at the Batajnica military airfield near Belgrade, the Serbian president said several administrative and logistical procedures must be completed before conscription officially returns.
The restored draft will apply to men under the age of 30. The service period is expected to be 75 days.
Serbia switched to a fully professional army on January 1, 2011, when a parliamentary decision suspending mandatory military service took effect.
It was previously reported that Germany is also considering the return of compulsory conscription.
