Russia carried out a massive strike on Kyiv overnight on June 15. According to the capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, damage was recorded in almost every district of the city.
At this point, five people are known to have been killed. According to the latest data, 30 people were injured. Among the wounded are a child and a pregnant woman. Three of the injured are in hospital in serious condition, Klitschko said.
A fire broke out at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra after the attack: the roof of the Dormition Cathedral caught fire. Icons and relics began to be carried out of the Lavra’s grounds to save the holy objects from the flames, Bishop Avraamii reported. According to him, the valuable items were preserved.

Another fire broke out on the grounds of the Dovzhenko National Film Studio. According to Culture Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy Tetiana Berezhna, the costume workshop was damaged, and Ukraine’s largest and oldest costume collection was destroyed. The studio housed around 100,000 costumes and three million items of various clothing.
Power lines were also damaged in Kyiv as a result of the attack. According to Klitschko, 140,000 residents in the northern part of the capital remain without electricity.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russia launched 70 missiles and 611 attack drones at Ukraine overnight. Kyiv was the main target of the strike. Missile strikes also hit Dnipro and Kharkiv.
In Kharkiv, five rescuers from the State Emergency Service were killed during firefighting work as a result of a repeated Russian strike, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said. At least five more rescuers were injured. In Dnipro, the House of Organ and Chamber Music was damaged in the attack.

On June 12, Ukraine received information from the United States that Russia could use an Oreshnik missile between June 11 and June 14. According to Ukrainian outlets, Russia warned “the United States and partners” of a possible strike.
