Nigel Farage said he is resigning as a member of Parliament and will run again in his Clacton constituency in a by-election.
According to Farage, this will give him an opportunity to “stick two fingers up at the entire establishment.”
The unexpected announcement came amid growing scrutiny of undeclared gifts Farage received before the 2024 parliamentary election, when he was first elected to the House of Commons.
Among those gifts was £5 million, or $6.7 million, from cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne, who lives in Thailand. That episode is now being investigated by Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Daniel Greenberg.
