American journalist Laura Loomer said a senior FBI source had told her about alleged contacts between New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Islamist terrorist organizations.
According to Loomer’s source, the bureau’s leadership considers Mamdani a potential threat to US national security. The FBI has not officially confirmed the claim.
“Senior FBI leadership has reason to believe that Mamdani may be communicating directly with Islamist terrorist organizations. He unquestionably poses a national-security threat, which is precisely why we denied him an FBI-approved security clearance. He will not receive one,” the official said.
Mamdani previously said he was considering arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while he attended a session of the United Nations General Assembly.
