International Criminal Court chief prosecutor Karim Khan said that he, ICC judges and UN representatives had faced direct threats over cases related to Israel. According to him, the threats also concerned his family.
Khan says 12 U.S. senators sent him a letter stating: “If you target Israel, we will target you and your family. You have been warned.”
According to the prosecutor, the threats were followed by concrete measures—sanctions, the freezing of bank accounts and travel restrictions.
Khan called the use of state power to pressure institutions of international justice “deeply dangerous.”
