A state of emergency has been introduced in Crimea and Sevastopol “to streamline economic matters.”
This was announced by Sergei Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed head of the peninsula.
“The decision was made primarily to streamline economic issues. The legal regime of a state of emergency makes it possible to address tasks as quickly as possible in order to organize the stable functioning of all sectors on which the population’s essential services depend,” he said.
Parts of the peninsula have no electricity.
