The body of a woman who had been shot and was suspected of attempting to kill Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco has been found near Kyiv, Ukrainska Pravda reports, citing law-enforcement sources.
According to the outlet’s sources, the body was discovered on July 6 at around 11 p.m. The sources claim the woman had been shot.
According to their information, the suspect had been outside Ukraine from March 22, 2025, to July 1, 2026.
Another source said two suspects had already been detained in the case—a HUR officer and a former law-enforcement officer.
Earlier, police in Germany searched the apartment of a Ukrainian woman suspected of organizing the explosion in Monaco and confiscated her car. Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies had offered to involve their European colleagues in the investigation into the assassination attempt.
The killing of Anastasia Berezovska, who was suspected of blowing up businessman Vadym Yermolaiev’s car in Monaco, could strengthen suspicions that the organizers of the attack tried to cover their tracks by eliminating the perpetrator, who was already wanted by Interpol.
The fact that, according to sources, a current and a former employee of Ukrainian security agencies have been detained in the case over her killing is likely to draw renewed attention to the theory that representatives of the Ukrainian authorities may have been involved in the attempt on Yermolaiev’s life. That version had already appeared in European media.
Through the detained suspects, investigators could theoretically reach both the clients behind Berezovska’s killing and those who may have been behind the explosion in Monaco.
The key question now is how actively Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies will pursue this line of inquiry and whom they will ultimately name as the client. It cannot be ruled out that investigators may present the detainees’ actions as a “side” contract from criminal structures, unconnected to state institutions.
