Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called the agreement with Lebanon “a big mistake.” According to him, he asked the prime minister to hold a cabinet vote and has opposed the arrangements for several weeks.
“Yes, for now we remain on most of the territory, but the state of Lebanon will not disarm Hezbollah,” Ben-Gvir said.
He noted that Hezbollah ministers are part of the Lebanese government, and therefore, in his view, Lebanon cannot be trusted to take weapons away from the group.
Ben-Gvir said he would demand a cabinet vote.
“Only IDF soldiers will destroy Hezbollah—no one else will do it for us,” he said.
