Israeli Police Fire Tear Gas as Muslims Gather for Eid Prayers in Jerusalem

Israeli police fired tear gas outside Jerusalem’s Old City walls as Muslim worshippers gathered for early morning Eid al-Fitr prayers. Many were trying to find a place to pray after holy sites in the Old City, including the Al-Aqsa compound, remained closed for security reasons since the Middle East war began on February 28. The restrictions have added to tensions around religious access in occupied East Jerusalem.
