Summer is always a very controversial season. Some of us are waiting for it during the whole year, looking for the heat, the sea and the shirt skirts. Other people pray for winter fresh air and frosty days when summer comes. But it is hard to doubt that summer is a great time of lemonade, tanned bodies, ice-cream dropping on our shorts and… melting cars.
Considering the weather we have been having (suffering?) for the last few weeks here in Ukraine, we have found a great photoset, depicting what we basically feel. The Melting Cars series was created by Maarten de Groot and Luminous Creative Imaging at souverein. Every creator has put their best into the set and it is really unique. On one hand we have got great pictures shot by Maarten: the emotions on faces, the surprise and disbelief. On the other hand there are miracles of post-production shown by Luminous CI.
The metal is literally melting at the sight of the characters and ours as well. The paints are flowing on the sizzling hot asphalt, covering it with satin sheets and blankets of silver glaze. Being the master of sports photography, Maarten genuinely depicts the the movements and emotions at the photos, taken in the studio. While the guys from Luminous CI — the CGI gurus — create the melting parts in 3D. Their approach to creating their projects the designers themselves have named Creative Imaging (which is actually the part of the studio name). It covers multiple branches of modern design, such as retouching, illustration, 3D, photography, etc. And the wonders, that the professionals from Luminous CI make with The Melting Cars set prove that they are real geniuses of what the do.

It is also interesting that either on purpose or accidentally, but we see only the cheap branded cars in the heat’s embrace. And it is hard to believe that such professionals can do anything accidentally. We interpret this fact as the authors’ desire to outline the importance of good, high-quality production. Not in car-production only, but also in any products we buy or consume.
