U.S. Vice President JD Vance reacted sharply to Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, calling them “absurd,” “unacceptable,” and “scandalous.”
“Until yesterday, I did not even know that Zelensky had said he intended to send soldiers to the prime minister’s residence. Viktor told me about it, and then I checked it myself. I could hardly believe it was true, but it is. It is utterly scandalous. It should never be the case that a foreign head of government or state threatens the head of government of an allied country. It is absurd. It is unacceptable,” he said.
The reference was to Zelensky’s March 5 statement, in which he threatened to give Orban’s address to Ukrainian soldiers if Budapest continued to block the allocation of a €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine.
