Donald Trump said the United States had carried out a secret operation to escort oil tankers and other commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the operation brought more than 100 million barrels of oil onto the global market.
Trump said he had issued the order to the U.S. Armed Forces last month. Since then, he said, more than 200 commercial vessels have passed safely through the strait.
“Last month, I directed our great U.S. Armed Forces to conduct a secret operation to escort oil tankers and other commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Today, I am pleased to announce that this operation resulted in more than 100 MILLION barrels of oil passing through the strait and onto the open market.
More than 200 commercial vessels passed safely through the strait. This incredibly successful outcome is due to the fact that THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS CONTROLLED BY THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA—NOT IRAN. Their army has been crushed, and their economy destroyed. Iran is finished!” Trump wrote.
