U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that only proposals for ending the war in Ukraine were discussed at Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin’s summit in Alaska, not finalized agreements.
“In Alaska, only a proposal was made; there was never an agreement there,” Rubio said.
He added that the United States remains ready to play a constructive role in settling the war.
Earlier, Putin claimed that at the meeting in Alaska he had agreed to proposals put forward by Trump. According to Moscow’s version, they included ending the war on condition that Ukrainian troops withdraw from Donbas.
Later, Volodymyr Zelensky also said that the United States was pressuring Kyiv in an attempt to push it to withdraw troops from Donbas.
