The United States is considering the possibility of suspending Spain’s participation in NATO after Madrid refused to provide military bases for the operation against Iran.
According to the agency, Washington is also discussing a review of the U.S. position on the status of the Falkland Islands in relation to Britain, as Argentina continues to claim sovereignty over the territory.
Measures under consideration also include limiting “problematic” countries’ access to key or prestigious posts within the alliance’s structures.
Media reports had earlier suggested that officials in Washington had drawn up a list of NATO’s “good” and “bad” countries.
