Ukrainian officials, judges and some military commanders say children must be prepared for war from kindergarten and school—while sending their own sons and daughters to study abroad. This is the subject of a new report by Bihus.info.
The piece describes how Ihor Shvaika, deputy head of the 4th Territorial Defense recruitment center, called children who went abroad to study "rats fleeing a sinking ship." Yet his own son and daughter are in Belgium.
"If you are preparing to make sure your son does not serve, and before he reaches conscription age you send him abroad—you are running away. Simply fleeing the country. Like rats fleeing a ship to save themselves."
