The Donald Trump administration has agreed with Saudi Arabia on terms that would allow the kingdom to enrich uranium independently for civilian nuclear power, CNN reports.
The draft agreement has already been approved by the US president and the Saudi government, though the two sides have yet to sign it. The document has also not yet been presented to members of Congress, who must review and approve the deal.
According to the network, the agreement does not provide for inspections of Saudi nuclear facilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Instead, the document contains guarantees to the United States that the enriched uranium will not be used to develop nuclear weapons.
Saudi Arabia does not yet have any operational nuclear power plants.
