A senior White House official said that a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest is not planned “in the near future,” Reuters reported.
According to NBC News, citing another administration official, preparations for the summit in the Hungarian capital have been “put on hold.” The official said Trump believes that both sides are “not yet ready for talks.”
The source added that the phone conversation held the previous day between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was “productive,” but no in-person meeting is planned for now.

Russia outlined its previous conditions for a possible peace agreement with Ukraine in a confidential note delivered to the United States over the weekend, Reuters reported, citing two U.S. officials.
According to one of them, the document—formatted as a “non-paper,” or unofficial diplomatic memorandum—shows that Moscow is once again insisting on full control over the territory of Donbas.
