Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 34%, according to a poll by Reuters and the sociological company Ipsos. In the previous survey, the figure stood at 36%.
Reuters links the decline in approval to the situation around Iran and the rising cost of living.
According to the poll, 78% of Republicans still support Trump. At the same time, there is visible discontent within the party over his economic policy: 41% of Republican respondents said they disapprove of his handling of the cost of living.
Among independent voters—a group that could influence the outcome of the midterm elections—the advantage now lies with the Democrats. Asked about their preference in congressional elections, 34% backed them, against 20% for Republicans. At the same time, one in four respondents said they had not yet decided.
