On the morning of February 28, Israel and the United States carried out strikes on Iran, hitting targets in Tehran, Isfahan—the country’s second-largest city—and the western province of Kermanshah. Shortly after the attack began, Donald Trump addressed Iran’s military in a video message, demanding that it “lay down its arms or face inevitable death.” Benjamin Netanyahu, for his part, set out the operation’s central objective: to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
Iran responded immediately, vowing a “crushing” blow—and following through on the threat: missile strikes targeted Israeli territory, where a state of emergency was declared, as well as US military bases across the region.
