Overnight on December 27, Russian armed forces struck Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. According to him, initial reports spoke of five people injured, four of whom were taken to hospitals.

The attack triggered fires in several parts of the city. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service уточнила that a three-storey private house caught fire in the Obolonskyi district, a two-storey building in Darnytskyi, and a vehicle service station in Holosiivskyi. In Darnytskyi, debris also struck a 24-storey residential building, where flames engulfed the upper floors. The Telegram channel “Insider ua” reported that a drone hit a multi-storey residential building in the Pozniaky neighborhood.

Emergency power outages are in effect in Kyiv. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that around 4,000 residential buildings remain without heating, while reduced water pressure has been recorded on both the right and left banks of the capital. Approximately 600,000 consumers in Kyiv and the Kyiv region are still without electricity.
Later, authorities clarified that the total number of people injured in Kyiv had risen to 19, with 12 hospitalized. As a result of the strike, more than 2,600 residential buildings were left without heating. According to Ukrainian monitoring channels, the attack on the capital lasted for around 12 hours.

One person has been killed in today’s attack on Kyiv. At one of the incident sites, body fragments were found beneath the rubble, but authorities have so far been unable to identify the victim.
