Russia has announced the launch into orbit of the second batch of satellites for Rassvet, a system presented as an alternative to Starlink. The constellation now comprises roughly 40 satellites.
At least several hundred satellites would be required for full-fledged military use, according to a former adviser to Ukraine’s defense minister known by the pseudonym Flash.
By comparison, SpaceX’s orbital constellation comprises more than 15,000 satellites.
Oleksii Arestovych previously said that once Rassvet becomes fully operational, Russia will be able to narrow its gap with Ukraine in conducting “mid-strikes.”
