In the early hours of June 29, Russia launched a massive strike on Ukrainian territory, deploying hundreds of drones and several types of missiles. According to Ukraine’s Air Force, an F-16 fighter pilot died while repelling the attack.
According to official data from the Ukrainian military, the enemy launched 477 strike and decoy drones, four Kinzhal missiles, seven ballistic missiles of the Iskander-M or KN-23 type, 41 Kh-101 or Iskander-K cruise missiles, five Kalibr sea-launched missiles, and three guided missiles from the S-300 system.
In the city of Smila, Cherkasy region, a Russian strike injured six people, including a child. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, a college building and three apartment blocks were damaged.

Ukrainian pilot Maksym Ustymenko died while responding to a massive overnight attack. He was 32 years old. According to the Air Force, he managed to destroy seven aerial targets, but his jet was damaged during the attempt to intercept the final one and began to lose altitude rapidly. Ustymenko was able to steer the aircraft away from a residential area, but did not have time to eject.
