Patriot interceptor missiles for Ukraine will most likely be produced in Germany or another European country, while production could be moved to Ukraine after the war ends, Reuters reports, citing military experts.
In their assessment, until production begins Ukraine will continue to face a shortage of interceptor missiles and will be forced to determine which sites should be prioritized for protection from Russian strikes.
Experts note that establishing a production line and building a supply chain will take considerable time. Fabian Hoffmann, a specialist at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, believes production is unlikely to begin in less than 12 months and could take even longer.
Volodymyr Zelensky said technical teams were already working on the details of the project. According to him, Ukraine expects to receive US-made PAC-3 interceptor missiles in the coming days and hopes to obtain additional air-defense systems from European allies.
