During an evening press conference on May 9, Vladimir Putin said he believes the conflict in Ukraine is approaching its end.
The Russian president also said that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico had conveyed to him a proposal from Volodymyr Zelensky for a personal meeting.
“There was no special message from Zelensky. I heard once again that Zelensky is ready for a personal meeting. We have never refused that. Whoever wants to meet—let them come to Moscow,” Putin said.
At the same time, the Russian president said a meeting in a third country would also be possible, but only after final agreements had been reached.
“We can meet in a third country as well, but only once final agreements have been achieved for a long-term historical perspective,” Putin said.
