Russian president Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi at the Presidential Library in St Petersburg on April 27, Interfax reports.
In the public part of the talks, Putin said Russia would “do everything” to achieve the swiftest possible establishment of peace in the Middle East.
Araghchi, in turn, stressed that for Tehran, relations with Moscow constitute a “strategic partnership at the highest level”.
The public portion of the meeting lasted just over five minutes, while the talks themselves continued for about an hour and a half.
Araghchi is considered one of the key participants in negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict with the United States, which are currently effectively on hold. Iran insists that Washington lift the blockade on its ports.
