The Economist journalist Oliver Carroll reported, citing sources, on a provisional agreement to halt air strikes until a three-way meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
“We think the skies will give signals about provisional results of these talks. Next week will be interesting,” one of Carroll’s sources said.
No other confirmation of an air ceasefire has yet emerged. Neither Washington nor Moscow mentioned such an agreement in their statements after the talks.
The Trump–Putin meeting on August 15 in Alaska lasted nearly three hours. The leaders called it productive but presented no concrete agreements.
At the same time, as Axios reported, during a phone call with Zelensky and NATO leaders Trump noted that Putin opposes a temporary ceasefire and insists on a full peace settlement.
