Polish President Karol Nawrocki has rejected legislation introducing civil partnerships, including for same-sex couples.
“President Karol Nawrocki has vetoed the laws introducing civil partnerships. These are not merely provisions designed to simplify administrative matters, but measures that create a new legal institution resembling marriage. The president emphasized that he is prepared to sign a law establishing the status of a close person—one that genuinely addresses citizens’ problems without undermining the constitutional protection of marriage as a union between a woman and a man,” presidential chief of staff Paweł Szefernaker wrote on X.
