The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has concluded that Pokrovsk has come under full Russian control. According to the analysts, this occurred over the course of the past several weeks—Ukrainian military presence in the city was last recorded on January 28.
The map produced by the Deep State monitoring platform reflects a similar picture: virtually the entire territory of Pokrovsk is marked as occupied by Russian forces, with the exception of a small area to the northeast that retains the status of a gray zone. The neighboring city of Myrnograd, according to the same platform, has also been nearly entirely lost by Ukraine—on the ISW map, it is shown as falling wholly within the Russian-controlled zone.
Moscow declared the capture of both cities back in December of last year. Kyiv rejected those claims at the time.
