The Pentagon plans to create two training ranges in the United States that will simulate combat conditions in Ukraine, CBS News reports.
According to U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, the American army intends to deploy at least two such sites in the next four to six weeks. They are meant to reproduce a realistic combat environment, including the use of drones and electronic-warfare systems.
“You can create a kind of electronic-warfare system and a complex environment in which drone manufacturers and developers of countermeasures can interact with one another,” Driscoll told reporters.
According to him, U.S. troops will use these ranges to “hone their skills” and work directly with weapons and technology developers.
In addition, the Pentagon is considering creating a separate international range outside the United States for larger-scale testing, including with hypersonic technologies.
