North Korea said it had tested an electromagnetic weapon and a carbon-fiber-based bomb designed to trigger large-scale power outages across vast areas. As Bloomberg notes, while the international community’s attention was fixed on Iran, Pyongyang was testing new types of weaponry.
Kim Jong Un said these developments “are special assets of a strategic nature that will be combined with various military means and deployed across different domains.”
Such systems typically use electromagnetic energy rather than conventional explosives to disable power infrastructure.
