The mayor of the French city of Fréjus on the Riviera, David Rachline, said Ukrainian authorities could be behind the attempted killing of businessman Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco.
“According to preliminary information, the target of the attack was a Ukrainian oligarch who had distanced himself from Zelensky and the Kyiv regime, and he was wounded. Has the Kyiv regime gone out of control if it is targeting citizens who refuse to obey its orders in this way?” Rachline wrote on X.
Rachline has Ukrainian roots: his paternal grandparents were Ukrainian Jews who fled pogroms and revolution in Ukraine in the early 20th century.
He represents Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party, which is skeptical of support for Ukraine.
