European countries’ refusal to support the United States in its conflict with Iran could lead to “massive and profound” consequences—according to Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a hardliner on Tehran, Donald Trump is now “angrier than ever” following their recent conversation.
“I just spoke with the president about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide resources to keep the Strait of Hormuz operational—which benefits Europe far more than it does America. I have never heard him this angry in my life. I share that anger, given what is at stake. The arrogance of our allies, who claim that a nuclear-armed Iran is not a major problem, and that military action to prevent the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem, not theirs, is more than offensive,” Graham said.
He added that the situation has led him to question the value of NATO.
