Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a conversation with Al Jazeera that Tehran has no intention of abandoning uranium enrichment or accepting limits on its missile programme—demands Washington continues to press.
Enriching nuclear fuel, he said, is an inalienable right for Iran and will continue. Araghchi stressed that even air strikes have failed to destroy the country’s relevant capabilities, while adding that Tehran remains ready for talks and expects a promising agreement on the issue.
He also issued a warning to the United States, saying that if America attacks, Iran will strike US military facilities in the Middle East. Reuters reports that Araghchi clarified that Iran is not capable of attacking US territory, but is prepared to hit American bases in the region.
The day before, US and Iranian officials held talks in Oman on the possible revival of the nuclear deal and other issues.
